Blue Glass is the first book in the Redvein series and tells the story of Maren Dejesus. It takes place several years after Violet Chains.
Maren knew exactly what to expect returning home—no friends and no life. Her Nans is gone, her brother Bridge is now the head of the family, and her cousin Skylar just wants her to disappear again. With the entire town blaming her for something she couldn’t stop, Maren takes refuge with old family friends, the Hass’. Single father Eric Hass treats her like a daughter, twins, shy Luka and outgoing Greene are happy to see her and their enigmatic older brother Rayon, who up to a few days ago she didn’t know existed, draws her in with the single scar spanning the entire left side of his face.
Maren always knew the Hass’ were out of the ordinary and when the island people start falling asleep and never waking up, the only unaffected are her family and the Hass’. She wants to understand their immunity and wants Rayon to tell her the truth, but he keeps dodging every question. Now wondering the streets of the Island are the souls of the sleeping and Maren enlists the help of Quaidan; the creepy loner who stalks the high school steps, to save them. He knows more about the island than anyone and he shows her a world apart from theirs where creepy demon guards kill dream hoppers and a couple are torn apart dream after dream. There’s still so much Maren doesn’t know about her town and herself.
